Thanked: 15/8 or 6/8??
Good morning everyone...
Thank you for helping me with the SimbaTec / Razolution situation. Spoke to my son and we are going to pick out a new razor from the recommend list. I see two Dovo models but do not know if I would notice any difference between a 5/8 or 6/8 blade???? I really do appreciate this site and help offered. Scott

Get any of them.
Seriously, it does not matter one bit.
Both are middle of the road size-wise, and will both perform just fineBjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 113Scott, reach out to Don or Lynn from SRD. They will help you make an educated decision!
Can't go wrong with their SR+Strop kits.

Thanked: 1Thanks for the direction. I did not think there would be much difference for me at this point, but feel better double checking!

I think the real difference for most is the 6/8 comes with a bit more noticeable heft to it. I can definitely tell a weight difference from my Dovo Gentleman 5/8 as to my Ralf Aust 6/8 for sure. Plus the heftier weight can actually cut through your facial hair a bit easier due to the weight as compared to a 5/8. That said a 5/8 if properly honed and with a shave ready edge cuts like a heated wire through warmed butter as well.
I just like the beefier feeling blades of 6/8 or larger myself. But my best razor overall has been a Ralf Aust basic acrylic scale 5/8 round point from SRD here! Best darn razor for $103 to be had!
I see you are in Medina Ohio.............isn't that where SRD is???? Just go by and check them out. I assume maybe they have a store front, I could be wrong though.German blade snob!

Thanked: 1Thanks Michael. Imperial Shave is here in Medina and will support them as a local business.
I will try to make it back there on Saturday due to the store hours and my work schedule.
I would prefer a heavier razor. I enjoy the Parker DE for that reason.

Thanked: 433I leave my comfort zones at 4/8" or less and 7/8" or more. I can hardly tell the difference between 5/8" and 6/8"
