Thanked: 0New Razor Search / Honing Speciailists
Hi All
So, I've been shaving on-off with a straight razor since high school. The first razor I had was some kind of an ice stainless steel from Dovo, which was really not very good, and I am surprised I did not slit my face with it in retrospect. Then, another stainless steel one from Dovo about 15 years ago, which was useable.
About 10 years ago I bought a new Robert Klass carbon steel razor and it has been great. But I need to find someone to get honed (preferably here in Europe). Any ideas from people here? I could not find Robert Klaas on the web. Are they still in business?
Also, I would like to pick up a new razor. I am looking at TI razors. The experience drew from above is that I only carbon steel razors. This post here (http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...s-prussia.html) indicated that Robert Klass is not very good. I have to say, I am completely happy, but I just want to try a change.
What's the wisdom of razor selection in 2015? I'd be interested to here any general comments.
Cheers,
G.Last edited by Giovanni; 10-11-2015 at 07:00 PM.

I see you are from Italy, have you asked on Ilrasoio, the italian shaving forum?
Besides, there are quite a few of us in Europe. For instance I follow a lot of Italians on Instagram, I am sure some of them can hone, too. Let me know if you need it and I'll ask. If you use Instagram, look me up @mr__britva and I'll put you in touch with some people who may be able to help.
As for the new razor... Classifieds here are a good start. TI is great, but for me, it gets a bit expensive for the models that I like. Your budget is key.As the time passes, so we learn.

I would send all my razors out to get honed.
You still have the others from your past?
Sounds like they were NOT shave ready, maybe a factory edge in them?
Instead of spending a lot of money, have the ones you own made TRULY shave ready and give them a go.
Just my 2 cents.....
