Thanked: 24This forum is dedicated to people who shave with old school straight "cut throat" razors. Here is an example... (the only pic I have handy on my phone) So most of the experience and expertise is dedicated towards them. On that note.... in my experience I think Braun makes the best electric razors. I have used about all of the major brands (Norelco, Braun, and Remington ) and I feel Braun is the best. Good luck on your purchase.
Now if you want info on the best straight razor to buy I am sure you will be able to find heaps of info on that subject!

Electric razors suck. That is all.

Actually electric shaver technology peaked in the 1980s. They just keep pushing redesigns to get folks to spend more and more money. If you are really stuck on an electric really any of the main outfits make a good product meaning Braun or Panasonic. If you like the rotating heads design Norelco of course.
That being said he'll get a much better shave with a quality Double Edge razor and a wet shaving routine. You might want to discuss that with him.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Hi Maddy you are a very thoughtful Daughter but you are definitely barking up the wrong tree talking of electric razors, now heed the wise gentlemen of this forum and buy your lovely Dad a nice double edge razor plus a nice traditional shaving brush and soap, then ask him to visit this forum do a little research and reading give him a few weeks and he will thank you no end.“Wherever you’re going never take an idiot with you, you can always find one when you get there.”

Hi Maddy many many many years ago I started with an electric, I moved to cartridge razors and couldn't believe how much better they were. Well many many many years later I decided to try staight shaving (after repeatedly thinking how great a shave the barber gave the back of my neck after a haircut) and then I tried a DE safety razor. I must say if you want a good easy shave the DE's are pretty much impossible to beat. Straight razors take time to learn a non agressive DE will require little to no effort to learn.
On the plus side if you get him a brush/soap and bowl he will thank you for that alone!
