Most of the razors I have seen with the foils stylistically I would attribute to late 1820s-1840s but this is hardly evidence.
    Thanks SG, never knew the period of these Greaves, are they foils or dirks, I thought they were dirks for some reason.

    Here's the one I have:

    What do y'all think about the age on this one?

    I am very new to this but my thoughts were about 1840 based on what i have seen and read.

    sheaf works -1826 to 1850 ish
    Tail maybe 1830 to 1845 ish

    hard to say on the tail though. just curious what more experience folk think

    The shape of the blade, the curve of the scales, would indicate to me a later date. Certainly pre 1891 since there is no 'Made In England.' I have a W&B that I know is around 1870 by a particular etching, and it is the identical style. I would say 1850 or later, but I'm no expert. Looks like you've got a heck of a shaver coming your way though.

    Thanks for the input! I thought the only greaves post 1850 were the BJ eyre late greaves and sons ones. i have no idea of course, just going by what i have read.

    I have a W&B with a similar blade design as well but the tail curls up heavily. very nice blade.

    I wonder if the w greaves & sons sheaf works was used much after 1850? by a different owner perhaps?

    That's a nice looking razor. I'm glad you ended up with it. I had been watching it for a few days.

    Someone will be along who can tell you for sure. I'm just going by the look of the razor compared with what I have. You probably know more about Greaves than I do at this stage of the game. Here are a couple I had and sold that look like what I consider older, just for comparison ....... ;

    EDIT .......... yours look pretty much from the same era as those I just posted, so ........ I'd say yours is an older one .....
