Thanked: 346Bergischer Lowe shank condoms
You know the one that gets loose after a few shaves and slide around, and that looks like cheap heat-shrink tubing instead of nice grippy ribbed rubber like the old Pumas? Yeah, that one... Turns out that it *is* cheap heat-shrink tubing.
I finally got tired of mine sliding around and squirted a good bit of oil under it to help prevent rust, then flamed it with a match and it shrank back down tight again. I'm curious how long it will stay tight, but it's a pretty simple procedure, and if it loosens up every few dozen shaves then that just gives me an opportunity to keep it good and oiled.

Thanked: 150Okay, you guys have completely confused me. I thought this site was about shavng, not oiling your condoms. What are you talking about?

Thanked: 346See the black rubber doohickey on the shank of this Bergischer Lowe? It has a tendency to get loose and slide around when you're trying to use it, making a secure grip impossible, which is ironic since it's supposed to improve your grip. It also tends to trap water underneath, making your pretty gilded razor rust, so using a good penetrating lubricant helps prevent this problem as well.

Interesting. One of my razors has a smooth shank and I've never had trouble controlling it. Guess it's "raw dawg style" for me.
