Thanked: 0New razor ordered
Just order an old Colonial 5/8 razor. Ordered off ebay but the guy was really helpful and answered all my questions. It's shave ready and also include for a little additional cost a strop and brush. It's off to learning how this works now and I believe I found my new hobby. It is a blast ready all the post and learning from you all!!!!

Take your time and read all you can on beginners and listen to the advise you will have a much better time at this, as to it being shave ready , I hope it is, but ebay purchases are not really recommended for first buys, right now you really don't know what your looking for not to mention no clue as to what shave ready is, it's a real eye opener when you get one,
Let us know how it goes. Tc“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”

Thanked: 0Thanks, yea I was very hesitant about it but the guy called me and we talked for a little while, can't remember his name but a very nice guy. I had bidded on another one and didn't work out and he felt bad so he said he had this one with the strop and brush he would sell ne for $30. He had it listed at 45 for just the razor so I figured he must either be a really good guy or a dang fine salesman but for the price I thought I'd at least try it.

Will await your report. Others are better judges than I. I will say that the brush looks mighty floppy to me, but some love them like that. It will lather, I'm sure! I started with a $5 brush, way back when, and still have a few that are drugstore quality, and they work fine. Have fun!

Star Shaving makes some very good quality strops that have received good reviews here. An Escali brush is nothing fancy but a good beginner brush. A Colonial razor is a quality blade from Germany. For $48.00 Shipped you really can't go wrong.
I think you scored bfdast. What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one
