My buddy bought a Birko Best and brought in for some show and tell. From the pics in the auction I would say it was gold plated; looking at it closely it almost looks like vintage protective film. I can't feel an edge on it, so what gives? It looks nearly new except for some tarnish and the edges of the gold "receeding".

Hmm, hone that razor up and shave with it, it looks to be in good shape.
