    Default Koraat tang taper?

Been looking at Koraat Knives razors. Noticed they do spacers and wedges. This led me to wonder if the tangs taper and the scales bow as the nice vintages do?

So basically a question for those who have one of these razors.

Also so far I'm finding I like 6/8, the heavier the better. Haven't tried bigger or many wedges. Should I go 6/8 or 7/8? And near wedge or 1/4 hollow?

    GOT 4 Koraat
1 6/8 near wedge his "The White Queen" spanish point
2 8/8 near wedge French tip
    3 8/8 1/4 grind barbers notch
    4 8/8 1/2 grind spanish point

My preference is the bigger the beter( I learned shaving with a straight with a 7/8 Herder round point) and
his wedges are simply perfect, you just let the razor do his thing with the extra weight.
but it is like everything else YMMV.

Do you have both wedges and spacers on your razors then? Any difference in scale action? Tang taper?

Lucky man. Think one of these may be my Christmas presents to myself.

    Hi Dmnc!
The tangs of our razors are tapered in a similar angle as most vintage razors. The angle is about 2° per side.
Neither our turned spacers nor the wedges are tapered. The reason is, that not every scale material is able to flex in a proper way. Some are to stiff, others to soft. Therefore the scales are build in a manner that the thickness of the wedge or turned spacer is about the same as the tang at the pinhole. That works well.

But of course, it is no problem at all to make a real wedge which is tapered if itīs prefered. We can do that without additional costs on request.

    best regards,
    Ulrik

Thank you for your reply. Didn't want to bother you directly as will probably be a while yet before I get round to an order. Love the look of your razors. Smiling wedge is exactly what I'm looking for at the moment. The smile in particular is hard to find at a reasonable price.

Thanks again, will probably ask for the tapered wedge when I get round to it, love the aesthetic of the vintage razors.

    All the best,
    dmnc
