I have seen several members show those, however it looks as if the toe on yours is chipped-off?
Here! Also a discussion on 'swaged' I think!

Thanks, its not chipped at toe, strange eh?
Yup - you have seen it before.....:o
And the toe looks like it's been modified.

I would not go so far as to say rare. It is a bit of an odd one though. I suspect that it was a short lived item. They are around but not plentiful like so many of their models. I also agree there is something unusual with the toe, like it has been stubbed.

Some different angles and close up
Looking at the one in question along with Andrew's I think it probably was chipped and reshaped, but I could be wrong,
I was wrong once before ......

That one is most likely chipped. It's not a common model but they are out there. The chip just happens to look like it was intentional, or it was reshaped to smooth it out. That kind of concave / swaged / whatever you want to call it was made by a few makers. Greaves made a 'Royal' concave that was similar.
Looks like a dandy little tip for tightening up the spectacles, though! :)
Well eve with the toe questionable it is still a nice razor and well worth cleaning it up a little and using it. Personally I would give it a long run in the tumbler and put it straight back in it's original scales and call it good. You will get some pitting and loose all of the black but it should look like a lovely old girl.
Here's the Greaves that I have that looks similar, as you said, concave, swagged.....

Awesome! Thanks guys! What about age?
Nice!
Yeah so looks to me its like that for a reason, like something goes on the end??
As for age, 1850-80?
Yeah, did not say it was rare, asked if it was? :)

Ps, what is a tumbler?
Looking good.
Nice work! Are those the same scales?
Hi all! Thanks for your replies. ;)
Yes Hacker, they are the sames scales. I try very hard to restore them, only bin them if they can not be saved but i draw a template of them before i bin them but those are the original scales.
It's amazing what Neatsfoot oil and micromesh sandpaper can do! :)
