Thanked: 0Gelle Freres Fabricants 44
I was wondering if anyone had any information on this razor. I got it from a traveling PIF box and while honing I noticed that it is very hard steel. It took 4 times longer to set a bevel and even longer then that to smooth it on a higher grit stone. Its a Faux Frameback with formerly painted wooden scales. Here is the picture I took for the PIF box thread on the other forum. I have this posted over there as well but so far no one knows anything about it.
I don't want or need a value for this razor. It feels good in the hand so I'll be keeping it unless the grind disagrees with me after its sharpened all the way. If that happens I'll PIF it since that's kinda how it came to me.
All I was able to find is that the company started in 1826, a catalog page scan from 1905, and that they won some prizes and awards in 1925. I have found a few razors but none of them the 44 that this one is.
