Have some fun!! Use two, a heavy grind for the first pass and a hollow for the 2nd

    I agree with Utopian.
After the first pass I would rinse thoroughly and wet the remaining hair before applying the second lather.

You want to avoid irritation and plenty of water will help.

Yep! Great advice ScineceGuy. It would be a good idea to put some small holes in the lids for ventilation.

The Savage would be a good choice. They are usually a heavy blade which would be good for your beard.

I would go with something on the wider side. A beard will soak up lots of lather and you will have to wipe the blade often. A wide blade will hold a bit more of it between wiping. Whip up tons of lather too.

I bring out my 6/8 Boker when I have more than 4 or 5 days growth. It's a full hollow but nevertheless fairly stiff in the blade and ideally suited to mowing down thick whiskers. I think the advice to go for a wider razor is sound in that you'll have a lot of lather and hair building up quickly on the blade. Make sure whatever you choose is on the sharp side

shave went fantastically, left a mo for something interesting. started out with the geo savage wedge that mowed down all the long hair with ease, and i tidied up with the torrey. both were beautifully sharp. had one nic from lack of recent practice.

a lot of hair to remove so had to wipe/wash the razor very regularally. hot water, a simpson brush, razor rock "the beach" soap and the llama strop rounded out the experience
