What do you mean by the "proper way"? Only shave in positions that uses 1 side?

I would also like to know the proper way. Several people including Lynn said I should be able to shave with both sides.

By the way, I haven't figured this thing out yet but selling is completely out of the question. I bought this mofo when I was in the nihon. If you are looking for a japanese style blade I believe we have a member living in japan that is selling them on ebay. I forget the thread but if you search I'm sure it won't be too difficult to find

you can use both sides, however i believe your are supposed to use the concave side only and it gives a smoother shave

Yes you are supposed to use the concave side only. The way the blade is configured the concave side gets a much sharper edge than the convex side. Thats the advantage to an asymetrical blade. The blade is just keaner on the one side and is also more fragile than say a wedge. Of course you can use both sides but its not as comfortable and to me because of the edge configuration doesn't feel right when I shave.

If you are going to buy into a radically different shaving system it behooves you to learn the correct way. Otherwise its like someone wanting to shave with a straight but doesn't want to mess with stropping and honing so he buys a feather and thinks he has the full straight experience. Is that the concave side towards your face? If so, then the left handers have an advantage here..... I'm right handed.

I'm left handed and it may seem we have the advantage but believe me when you start using it there is no advantage at all. The only advantage left handers have is because most of us are more ambidexterous living in a right handed world so using both hands comes more naturally for us. There are some moves that are really a stretch literally. I still have a huge problem doing the right side of my neck going north to south. I'm finding that a real problem.

hey give me a break deek! At least I'm not using one of those multiple bladed monstrosities or an electric lawnmower. I tried my dovo and there was an ass-ton of drag. I realize I've got to work on my stropping and honing but I'm taking a little break before round 2
