If I remember correctly C.V. Heljestrand owned more than a few patents concerning the production of quality steel and has been an influential guy in his age. I couldn't unfortunately find the source again.

    Default History of heljestrands

Heljestrands was a Swedish knife manufacturing company from Eskilstuna. The company was founded in 1808 by Olof Heljestrand (1781-1837). After his death in 1837, the firm was taken over by his first son Nils Fredrik (1808-1868) and subsequently by his son Carl Viktor (1819-1861), I think this is where the name C.V. comes from. The company was run by descendants until 1980 when produciton, and the company, ceased. Besides razors, knives, cork screws, nail pliers and scissors was produced.

Thanks for the info and welcome to SRP. I would just add that I have never had a C.V. Heljestrand that wasn't a great shaver and I have a half dozen. OTOH, any Eskilstuna made razor I have has been a great shaver.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks for the info and +1 on what Jimmy said. One thing I have noticed with most Swedish razors is that besides being excellent, sharp and smooth shavers they are mostly light weight razors except the frameback and a few other models. But they take a wicked sharp edge. I personally love Swedish steel.

Sounds promising! I inherited a dozen Heljestrands from my grandfather, he worked most of his life at Heljestrands sharpening and honing their razors. When he passed I got his shaving box and now I've decided to put them to use.
