Thread: Still on the hunt for my first restore wanting your opinion

Need a clearer pic.
Curious of the edge, more than anything.
What size is it 4/8, 9/16, 5/8 ?
At least the spine wear is even.
MHO you can do better in the wilds. Just go hunting in some antique shops.

Thanks for the huge help you guys god I love this site because of the useful information and the friendly people that are always here to help if it wasn't for you guys Id probably would be buying a lot of razors that would cause me a lot of trouble and money thanks guys hopefully when I learn what you guys know and I have the experience I have someone like me asking questions so I can help and answer them as well and I might even give him a one on one cause if it's somebody just like me that needs the help they probably need a mentor to guide them on there shaving journey and stay out of trouble that's one of the main reasons why I picked up the razor I needed something to help me stay out of trouble ever since I've picked up the razors and stones I've dropped the trouble and the the friends that got me into trouble it's been a year and a half and no trouble and I've even managed to have a have a baby boy born last month on the 3rd and starting my own little family now all I need is a better job or I should say a career that's going to get me and my family where we wanna be and all the razors and stones I want lol

Careful ... They do become addicting little things, once you figure out what to look for, and where to look, who to talk to that can point you towards your next find. Really the hunt is the funnest part. Here's a little tip!!!
The next rainy, boring day.
Jump on the web, check in your area (as far as your willing to travel) for antique shops. Pick a few and go hunting. Take a pad and pencil with you to mark down isle and booth #s, and all the goodies you find, then get a salesman and look at all of it "BEFORE" you decide to buy it.
It will keep you from trying to buy it all, and weed through the junk to find the good ones. Then you know where their at, when you come back the next time.
There will be new stuff coming in all the time. Ive collected alot this way, on the cheap.

Hey you know what that sounds like a good idea for tomorrow me and my wife are spending a little time together after we run some errands and we plan to go do something that we both like and she loves going to antique shops and thrifts stores I know I'll probably won't find nothing in the thrift store but we have a lot of antique shops around my area and I've actually been to a few and found razor in one it was a Anthony Tad Ross I believe that's how it was spelled but it didn't tickle my fancy lol always wanted to use that word really I love king razor mfg Co razors, Gotta, Genco, clauss, puma, Keen kutter, tridente Ed Wusthof, filarmonica, a few Japanese brands a few french brands and a few more that no need to mention because the list can just never end lol so am sure I'll find something I like in the shops

Yeah.. I [emoji90] myself. When I pulled it out of the box and seen how clean it was. Then [emoji90] myself again at the price she gave me. Was looking around the store all happy, but felt like I was stealing it at the same time.[emoji5]

Yep. i have a covered tang Clauss & I got it for cheap when others on eBay got preoccupied with other things. You can get good deals by just shopping around.

Well you may want to start with a razor that is a little bit heavier grind as well. I would expect that one to be quite hollow. Hollow blades can be a little more tricky when to comes to restoring. If you start with a blade with a clean edge, and half hollow it will be much more forgiving and leave you with a very nice razor. Don't stop looking though. The hunt is part of the fun. It is difficult in the beginning when you don't really understand what you are looking at. It will all come clear in time.
