To be honest I have sent my razor to get it hone and to be honest it doesn't hold up as good as my disposable one. It is dull most of the time even if I strop it with the leather belt. I like my razor to be sharp enough to cut on the first pass or two. I come to notice that when I shave with it I still have spots where I can feel the hair been left behind. I have to use my disposable one in order to finish the job and I really do not want to do that all the time. Just want to use my straight razor to get a close shave and my safety razor for my neck. I am currently trying to look for someone to hone it and as well to restore it since it has some rust spots coming out.

At one time, the Grim Blade people got Theirs Issard's & put their name on the blade but they were still stamped with the TI markings on the tang. That was the only good Grim razor that was worth having but the rest were junk which is why they are listed in the section of "Brands of Straight Razors to Avoid". I don't know if they still do that. Here's the link to the ones to avoid:

Here are the good ones that you would be happy with & there are more that aren't listed:

To be honest I do plan on getting a Dovo razor in order to replace my straight edge razor now that some smart person at home wet my storage box in where I keep my razor and it got some rust in it. I need to replace it and also get a few new ones to alternate whenever I ship one out to get it honed and the others to have it close to me for my use.

You might want to keep your storage box out of the place it was in, possibly the bathroom & put it somewhere it won't be prone to get wet. Some people just don't care or do not understand. You can get a spare in the Classifieds here as some may have pointed out or get you one from SRD. The Ralf Aust is a great deal & some day I will get me one but right now I'm good.

I did explain to my siblings and my mom how expensive these blades can get and also the reason behind them. They were like ok, but kind of got me irritated. So now I am going to go get it honed and polished hopefully that will go ahead and fix some of it. I like the mammoth blade but $800 yeah kinda expensive. I seen some nice Blue and yellow scales in which I loved! Hopefully one day I can buy a blade and just attach it to the scales that I have and take out the rusted one.

Budget? Grind preferences? Modern or vintage?

If you're going to buy a new razor here's some advice---> The pretty scales aren't what cuts the whiskers it's the blade. Most of my razors have plain jane black scales but the blades are wicked sharp and stay that way. Do some research on blades then buy accordingly. When you do find a good one.............take care of it and it will take care of you the rest of your life.

$275 or $300, smooth, modern, prefer round blade than squared.
