Oops, I did it again
I can't pass these things up. I bought an old shaving kit that looks like a book when on a shelf.
Pull the center portion out of the sleeve and I have a kit with everything from button hook to a razor.
The razor was what excited me the most. It's in very nice condition.
I'm pretty excited about this one. I got the entire set for a screaming deal[emoji1]

Thanked: 351Congrats, nice haul!
I've got one of those W&B razors here.... mine has a pit near the heel that one day may rear it's ugly head, but otherwise it's near flawless. The rest of your kit looks wonderful!
I've seen a couple of other gentlemen’s "necessary" kits over the years and fully intend to make one myself when time becomes more plentiful. In the meantime, the one you have acquired will serve as an inspiration to me!

Thanked: 351I'm wondering, are those items *real* ivory?
Question 2: There are two items I'm trying to identify, the one right next to the comb and the one between the larger of the two small brushes and the paddle strop.
Other than that, I see one loop that is empty.... perhaps a small shaving brush? I'm going to assume the bar soap container was used for washing AND shaving.....
I honestly LOVE these "necessary" kits, I wish I'd taken screen shots or saved the pictures of the previous ones I've seen.... Both of them were military ones... they had everything an officer needed when in the field. And worse yet, they were *real* ivory. Not that I condone obtaining real ivory.... we can make faux ivory now... there is zero need to obtain the real stuff, but I still fawn over the old stuff, none the less.

I took some more pictures. I'm not sure how to identify real ivory. It very well could be. I don't think this kit has been opened for a lot of years. Everything, including the leather, is in pretty nice shape. The kit also appears to be missing a pair of scissors. I am going to try and research the trade mark as I am very curious where and when this was made.

That is totally awesome! The kind of historical daily stuff I love!
I could easily imagine a gentleman of the day traveling by stagecoach stopping at an overnight rest stop for dinner and an evening shave!
The whole kit is in amazing condition for its age.
Good luck on your research. It would be cool to find some info on the background and age.
