Thanked: 0Erik Anton Berg razor with J. Bingham blade.
Just got my hands on this thing. Don't know much about straight razors, but I read a little bit about Erik Anton Berg and J. Bingham. Any thoughts about this razor, and why there is a J. Bingham blade on a Erik Anton Berg razor? Also the Bingham logo does not look like the other ones I've seen.
Thanks.

I can't really help you. All my AB's are with his name on them. The coffin says Eskilstuna..,Swedish, and your blade is most likely English. Not a match in my opinion. A very nice box and blade, just not together!
Cheers for a nice catch!

Mismatched boxes/coffins and razors are very commonplace. This response will tell you the history of your RAZOR...http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ml#post1053170

Yup, looks like someone simply placed a Bingham straight into an E.A. Berg box. Happens all the time.
Enjoy your Bingham!!! Enjoy the exquisite taste sharpening sharpening taste exquisite smooth. Please taste the taste enough to ride cutlery.

Thanked: 498I agree with the ones above a mismatched pair, however What a pair. Both are fabulous. Funny I dig the E.A.Berg coffin case more. Thats a real beauty, and not readily available.

Thanked: 0Thanks a lot for your answers! Very interesting, it belonged to my grandfather so I figured it was pretty old, but not up to 200 years old. It almost seems to be unused. The mismatched box makes a lot of sense, especially since I'm Swedish.

Thanked: 580Nice razor, all the better a family heirloom. Welcome to SRP. If your intention is to learn to shave, I would be tempted to set that aside and purchase a shave ready razor until you feel confident handling them.
