Default Anyone ever heard of this brand

Hey everyone found this at my moms house today I can't seem to find any info when I googled the name on it,it says J.VENEZIA then under that it says Passaic NJ on the other side of tang it says BLACK BEAUTY the scales feel real cheap but the blade seems like it could be good but I'm new to this so I have no idea lol. My parents used it as a prop my dad never used it to shave the blade would need some professional honing the blade has some chips in it & some rusting. I didn't really plan on using it my dad had a sr that he did use but unfortunately he passed & my mom can't find the one he used ,this one I'm asking about was set up on a dresser with some other shaving stuff as a decor lol I still planning on getting a good sr from srd was just curious about this one thanks for checking this tread out Name: image.jpg

I do not think that vintage razors were ever made as a novelty item. It is most likely that it is a genuine straight razor and not a razor shaped object. I cannot read the back of the tang. Unless it says something like Made in Pakistan, then it is likely a good enough blade to send out and get honed.

I agree completely also from what i could see on the razor in the photo it looked like N.J. which i take as New Jersey. If that's so i would think german steel made for a company in the U.S. now i may be completely wrong. Looks liike i can't remember between post. it does say N.J.

Yes it's definitely a sr I wasn't clear on that before my parents just had it set up as a decorative piece & yes that is Passaic New Jersey guessing that's where it was made or where the company is from no Pakistani markings on it sorry for the bad picture

The American made razors were very good razors. There were also a ton of companies that imported razors, those were also very good razors, in fact some of the most desirable razors were imports made by unknown companies, a good example of that is the Dubl Duck family of blades. I think you have a razors worth keeping and using for your special shaves.

It was that hammer finish that made me think it might be of good quality

That's what I thought as well. It looks very much like a Robeson.

I am betting it's Swiss steel made in Germany sold in the US. Unique name and as many were stamped for hardware stores and such not unusual to be untraceable. Nice razor and I bet it shaves nice once you get it honed. Reminds me of a bresnick hand forged :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Lots of companies had the "hammered" tangs. The stamping on this one looks deeper then the Robesons IMO.
