    Default Bengall

I snagged my very first straight razor! I grabbed a Bengall from Sheffield. Thanks to a kind member (you know who you are) of this forum who offered sound advice and a great razor for a great price! I will be joining the masses here and enjoying the straight razor experience myself!

It it took me a while to jump into the adventure and I am still a little nervous about that first upcoming shave with my new razor when it arrives. I have a few more videos to watch to get the technique down. Any advice would be welcomed here!

I am search for recommendations on strops too! I am thinking about getting a "Poor Man's Strop" from Larry at The Whipped Dog. I hear this is the way to go as you at slice and dice your first strop. Any advice here?

Thanks for for reading as I share about my new find and my start to this adventure!

    Cheers!

A beginner's strop is definitely the way to go. I didn't purchase whipped dog's, but I am sure it is good from other people. I used the filly from Rup Razor when I started out, it worked well for me. Which ever strop you get, practice with a butter knife. Concentrate on going slow and no pressure. Also if you make sure you lift the edge off and not the spine at the end of each stroke, you will prevent some cuts in the strop.

Thanks a lot for the recommendations! Any advice is welcomed! This is a learning curve coming from a DE to SR. I am excited to get started!
