Default Has anyone seen anything like this?

So a buddy of mine is starting to get into straight shaving and just received his first after after using one of mine. It needed honing so he let me bring it home tonight to do the job. My question is it appears to be a JA Henckels, it has the twin logo and "platinum" on the left side of the tang like all the other 401s I have seen but on the back side where it should say Henchels it says "James Q. Byrne Co. Inc. El Paso Texas" has anyone else seen anything like this before? I tried looking through the Google machine and came up with nothing. Any info would be great, have a great evening.

Many companies produced razors for stores, hotels and promotional items. My guess is that this the situation hers. I may be wrong and am sure someone will agree or correct me.

Yes, but not with that particular seller stamped on the tang. Henckels like lots of other makers ended up making razors for quite a few different retailers. Boker were pretty big into it as well.

Looking out for my buddy making sure he got something cosher, would feel bad if it wasn't and would have probably wound up trading him one of my W&Bs if it wasn't and didn't really wanna do that haha

Definitely a real Henckels, like stated above made for James Q. Byrne and co from El Paso, Texas. Furthermore that company was a Barbers Supply co around the turn of the century to about early 50's.

Yep! I agree with Martin. i Googled the company & they were apparently a beauty supply company. I found a little bit of information on this page:
