At the risk of heresy, I have to report that I purchased a Sanguine razor off of ebay. I'll try most things once and liked the looks of this razor. I bought the resharpenable one since they also sell shavettes and a strop. The razor blade is wide yet light and has the looks of a wide 7/8. It honed and stropped easily and had a good close shave. I must declare, I was impressed with this Sanguine razor in spite of it being on our "Do not buy" list. If it is a Pakastani blade then it must be the redemption of them because I did enjoy the shave. The scales have an attractive modern design. They are kinda flimsy but I see no problems as long as nobody hangs off of them. At any rate I would certainly re-scale this razor were the scales to mysteriously fall off.
The strop had a thick meaty leather strop and on the side which would normally be linen, it has a some kind of imitation leather/ man-made material. I rubbed a rough sandpaper over this several times and it has a velvety texture now. It too works well with the Sanguine razor and my vintage H. Henry Hill seemed to agree with it too. Here is a link if anybody is interested. http://stores.ebay.com/Sanguine-Razors .
