Thanked: 73 in one day
Hello! Last saturday i went to an antique mall with the hopes of picking up a W&B Chopper that I saw about two months earlier. The mall had a super sale so i figured I'd pick it up. It was gone. It sold a week before the sale. Heart broken, I picked up these:
I'm pretty sure we've all seen the Dovos, we'll skip over them for now, but this is the first time I've seen a Boker like this. Also, this is the cleanest blade I've seen in the wild ever! I was super excited that I didn't have to do the restore process and just get on with the honing - it was dull. Its just one of those well behaved blades. Took to sharp within about 2 min on a 4k and about 1min on an 8k. The gold wash is pretty much intact. I don't know if this rare but i couldn't find any pics online. It has a neat Boker tree on the end of the handle and some lattice work on the pin side. There is only one pinned and I assume the wedge is glued in. Any info on this guy would be great.
Oh, and what's the opinion on bevel width? Visually, do you like a wide, defined bevel or a glistening, sliver of an edge? I like the look of the narrow bevel but, on a small level, i feel like the wider bevels give a better shave due to the lower angle. Happy shaving everyone!

Thanked: 2284I could be wrong, but both Dovos look like new models. The Boker King Cutter is a pretty common vintage blade, and a very good one I might add. The condition is very good and I'd say you found a great Boker there. Get it pro honed and then get shavin!!

Thanked: 4206Great boker.
My first straight is a boker in identical scales. Mines got Adonis written across the blade in gold wash but looks near identical aside from that.
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Opened a whole new hobby up for me.

Thanked: 7Yeah, the dovo razors are new (and gorgeous, and shave great), but I was more interested in the Boker. I have another King Cutter and Ive seen quite a few, but this was the first time I've seen one of these. This one shaves better than my old one.

Nice finds, especially that Boker! I have a similar one that I recently won off the bay but I am still in the process of restoring because it came much rougher than yours. You are fortunate to have found it in that condition!
