Thanked: 0Razor dimensions forging
First Post.
Hello all I hail from Canada, spring is here and I want to forge myself a straight razor!!! Yikes, talk about taking on a project.
So to this end to get started I would like to ask your opinion on dimensions . I think something in the ballpark of 5/8ths-6/8ths. What I would like to ask is a 3" blade and a total length of blade and 6" total length, blade tang+tail.
What would be your ideal sort of razor, beginner shaver considered.
I will start with this and figure grind and such one I have some dimensions.

Thanked: 3795You posted your first post in two sections of this forum. Please don't do that.
Do you already have a straight razor? If so you can use that as an exemplar.

Get a decent shave ready vintage and learn to shave then you will know what's expected of the blade. Tc

Thanked: 13249I took care of the Dup post for you
The guys are actually giving you the correct advice, without having a SR and learning to shave First, you are simply making a hunk of sharp steel..
Honing, Stropping, and Shaving, dictate the actual function of a SR, how the razor performs during all of those dictates correct form
