Chipped edge
I recently got a used razor that was shave ready. However, it has one very small chip in the edge. Almost invisible without magnification. I shaved once with it and it worked great. Should I be worried that one of these days it will fillet me? I would post a picture, but i am pretty sure it wouldn't be obvious and i don't have a way to photograph with magnification.

Myself I ignore chips such as you describe, if the razor is shaving well. Hone it when it needs a touch up and clean it up. Of course that assumes I'm 'seeing' what you see.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 4827I have a Henckels Friodur that will always chip in the same place, it is very small. I have no means to measure it,but to put it in perspective, it is a full hollow razor, so the bell is very tiny. The chip that never goes away is between 15 and 30% of the bevel width and more or less V shaped. I tried and tried to hone it out, and have wasted valuable life from my razor. It still shave well and I have decided to stop chasing the chip. I bought the razor NOS from a very reputable vendor, in fact I bought two, but only one is problematic, in my mind.

I bumped my Joseph Rogers and put a significant nick near the toe, very visible to the naked eye. I smoothed it and shaved with it many times before sending it in for honing. It was still shaving great but I wanted it to be back in perfect condition.

If it shaves without pulling or nicking you from the chip it has to be so small that it is not a issue so leave it alone. When you touch up hone next it will more than likely minimize it more and eventually it will be obsolete. My philosophy is, "If it ain't broke; don't fix it!"
