Thanked: 70Army & Navy razor
Hi knowledgeable straight freaks. In a bunch of used scales I just got there was a neglected razor that said Army & Navy, Genco,
Geneva N.Y. USA. On the other side the tang said classified. The Library has 0 information about Geneva Cutlery. I know the Army
was using Gillette safety razors during the first world war. Would anyone know anything about this razor? I have cleaned it up and
honed it. I will shave with it tomorrow.

Geneva Cutlery Co. Geneva, N.Y. c. 1902 - 1935. By 1912 they were the largest manufacturer of razors in the United States. In 1928 the company was reorganized as Geneva Cutlery Inc. In 1935 the firm became part of the Edward Katzinger Company of Chicago, Ill. The name was then changed to Geneva Forge. The razor division and the trade mark Genco was sold to W.R. Case & Sons of Bradford, Conn. in 1936. I think the Genco trade mark showed up in 1916. I do not know if they had any contracts with the military for razors but it is quiet probable. I believe the Army & Navy branded razors we made to attract that customer base. I have seen them in both 5/8 and more rarely 6/8. Some with blued tangs. I have never found a Geneva razor that did not hold an excellent edge and provide a nice shaving experience.
Here is a gentleman's set of 6/8 Army & Navy with original blue tangs.
