Thread: Wade & Butcher Comeback

Really this is all a non-issue.

In the watch world almost all of the luxury brands are simply outfits that bought the name from some defunct manufacturer and when you do that unless the sales contract says otherwise you have bought all the history that goes with it and for all intents and purposes you are that brand. Similarly if you buy an existing company the result is the same.

The buying public is the one to decide if they will continue to buy the product and in most cases if it is a quality item they do. If it isn't then it's demise is all but guaranteed.

I think that making new razors with the W&B name is great and exciting. The man obviously has a passion for the brand. What better way to pay tribute to the brand then resurrect it. I really doubt its all about making money. There must be much less risky ways of making money. I truly hope he is successful in this endeavor. I really don't understand the negativity. I do not own a custom razor I don't think I ever will. I would be very interested in a new razor made with the W&B name on it. Good luck and look forward to seeing this happen.

From what I have read Wade & Butcher became a division of Durham - Duplex in 1921 & I don't know when any of the Butcher or Wade families had anything to do with the company.
It would be cool if he used some of the classic designs from W&B in his razors. I would love to have a new W&B near wedge between 6/8" to 1" or the early 7/8" Hollow Ground with a 1/4" wide spine that is my second favorite W&B. I really wish him luck! I hope the blades are forged as that process really helps the steelBut it's his company & they can do as they like.

Its like a piece of glass. I have used it only once, but I haven't the skills to know that it makes a difference. I have some antique stones I bought that are the same, but the antique ones are almost shine enough to see yourself. I still don't see much difference. Now the 50,000 I can't guarantee as I have looked at the box it came in and there are no mentions of grit, only the site I bought it from, and that could have even been a misprint on the site. I know you think its funny, but I have been subjected to several rip off's over time. Each time you discover you have been screwed, what do you do?
