Thanked: 1T & R Rowney Blade
Hi All,
I've just come across what appears to be a straight razor, the blade is stamped with "T & R Rowney Warran" . It has a very short stabiliser end. I think its bone and has a sort of emblem/coat of arms on one side of the handle. I did some looking and couldn't find anything similar, and it fits midway between a few styles of razor end.
I know the Rowney brothers were originally wig and perfume makers, before splitting and moving into art supplies.
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. I own an art shop so the link is quite nice
Regards

Pics tell the story. Can't respond without one.

To the best of my limited knowledge you have a late 17th C or early/first quarter of the 18th C razor. More exact will need to wait for someone more knowledgeable than me. There are several members with very good historical knowledge that should be along soon. TO my eye it looks to be in decent shape. Voidmonster is one of them. I have a couple of these early razors and find the are very good shavers. I think the Warren actually says warrenteed. Either the stamp didn't connect properly or some of it was ground off by a previous owner cleaning or restoring it.

Pretty cool and extremely old. Looks all original, to my eye.
I agree with Richard about the warranted.
Someone will be along with some info, hopefully!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Horn scales, not bone. And that's a nice looking old razor.
