Thanked: 66W&B 8/8 Finally
I have had this beauty for about 5 years but never spent the time to hone it correctly (see below), finally did and tonights first shave with her after who knows how many years (if ever) was very pleasant
When I acquired this in 2011 it was NOS, had zero signs of hone wear and not a spot on it it was a bit dull so perhaps someone shaved with it until it dulled and put it in a box never to be seen again for a hundred years?? (who knows) I am sickened by my own actions. My story goes that when I first attempted honing I had less experience, I taped up the spine and began to hone, for some reason I took a break and removed the tape, I then ordered a Chosera 1k, and like an idiot I caught myself after 30 seconds of setting the bevel NO tape, I almost wanted to puke, it can hardly be seen in the photos but it exists and it bugs me, dang that Chosera cuts fast. And to top it off I placed some bee's wax balm on the blade to prevent rust to wait until my hone skills had improved before touching it again, after taking it back out of the case recently I wanted to puke again because of the spots that had never existed before as well as signs of opening/closing at the pivot, I recall taking it out often years ago just playing with it which caused the open/close marks that never existed before my dumb arse got it.
For the record, I am a Joseph Rogers and Sons collector, I have many W&B's but always looking for a J&R 8/8, if anyone has one in equal shape I would be open to trade straight across.
You can see my old post from 2011 and see how perfect it was http://straightrazorpalace.com/honin...need-help.html
I hope you enjoy, and are there any ways to get out the black spots?

Thanked: 4827Congratulations on the decent edge. Spots come out fairly easily with a little bit of mothers polish. It can be used on a q-tip. Also a pencil eraser can be helpful own those. Don't worry about the opening/closing marks.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Very nice example definitely not a NOS FBU all the same the razor as been unpinned at some stage and poorly repinned.

Thanked: 101You really can't set the bevel right with tape anyway in my opinion. I used tape for a while but decided to not use it after some research & trial & error. They weren't ever taped when they were made in day's of old. Why do it now? I might be more likely to use thin Cello tape but not electrical tape. Now that is just me. Do what you like! I really like your razor& that size W&B is on my wish list!!
