Question old transparent honey yellow horn - what animal ?

Old razors sometimes have honey yellowish scales clear enough to see the blade thru- I'm wondering if this horn is from domestic cattle or wild ox or something ?

Here is a few pages of an old book about most anything chemical. Remember that most everything then was toxic!:

You can somewhat navigate through the book by clicking page numbers on the second page, Look at the top of the first page to see "three....."
    Another book is Henley's

This book you may actually scroll to the page you want. See "Bone and Ivory."
