Thanked: 15Makers mark
Looking at a masonic razor and it has no makers mark. Is that common?
Seller suspects its a Fredrick Renolds or Greaves. It seems it would have a makers mark regardless. Have they made cermonial, display only, razors. Judging solely by patina. It doesn't appear that old. Scales could be horn or plastic, hard to tell from the pictures. Wedge isn't pewter like I would expect either.
Thoughts?

I think its not authentic what ever it is. It looks like a bad etch job. Why are the makers marks gone? Perhaps its a regrind and etch. To many red flags for the price. It looks like a German made razor. Stay away.

That's a replica/fake...believe these are Chinese or Indian made, otherwise known as a RSO - Razor Shaped Object.
Here's one of the real deals, makers mark and all, Wade & Butcher:

Not original scales, but definite old blade! Phrank has a 'wild side'!

I rest my case.
