I assume you mean a traditional Japanese razor. The Tosuke razors are good razors. The iwasaki razors are better and come in grades. It kind of like good, better and best. The Iwasaki's in ball steel are probably the best however there are other razors made by sword makers to best those the problem is locating them. You might contact the auction service guy and tell him what you want. Many of these razors are produced infrequently like the custom razors made by people here. I wouldn't spend alot of money on one of these unless you really know you will like using one. You basically have to learn to shave all over again to use one correctly. used ones come up on yahoo japan all the time.

Buy a Tosuke razor first. It is still affordable, and it is a very good razor. Mine stil isn't shaveready btw. It takes some time to hone.
It is meant to be used only on one side, which makes shaving a whole new experience. Some people use both sides, but I don't.
If you don't like shaving with the Tosuke, there is no point in spending all the time and money to buy an Iwasaki forged razor.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

There is a Japanese member here who can buy stuff that you point out to him in Japan and then ship it to your place. his nick starts with 'spe_proxy...' I think.
I also have a friend in Japan who fixes me up with Japanese razors, and I have bought Tosuke razors for a couple of people here.
It is a couple of bucks more expensive, but I find this way easier because I only have to ask him 'Buy me a Tosuke razor please' and he takes care of finding and ordering one.
Send me a PM if you are interested.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
