Rodgers with odd markings stamped on face of blade
On a nice bulky Rodgers wedge with blonde horn scales I just picked up. It has odd markings stamped onto the face of the blade.
I feel like I've seen these markings somewhere before and I'm just forgetting where I saw it and what it was.
Close-up:
It reminds me of the Rodgers with the devanagari rendering of "wootz" (that is, the faux Sanskrit or faux Hindi) (this other thread is also related), but it doesn't read to me as devanagari script.
Ignore the dark 'smear', that's not part of the stamp. There are seemingly three separate symbols: the rightmost looks like << , the middle looks a bit like honeycomb, and the leftmost I don't know how to describe - like two stick men looking over a wall and waving?
I'm sure I should know what this is (either that I've seen it before somewhere or it was a strange dream? )
Any ideas?Last edited by benhunt; 06-18-2016 at 10:45 PM.

It reminds me of the W&B Chinese razors with the phony Chinese characters on the belly of the blade. I'm pretty sure Rodgers made a version of that and I think that is what it is.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I mean I don't read Chinese in real life, but it doesn't strike me as looking particularly like Chinese. I mean, if I were going to fake Chinese, even just from memory, I don't think this is what I'd come up with. But who knows. I searched through the forum and pulled up some threads with Chinese stamped razors, but didn't see any Rodgers (though at least one was mentioned but not pictured) and ddidn't find anything which looked that similar.

Sanskrit usually has the characters in each word joined by a horizontal line:

Check out the last two photos in post # 5 for a clearer photo of the etching ;

Yeah, that's definitely the same one.
And it's also the same as this one: http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...colley-co.html
(THough that's not a Rodgers, interestingly.)

Seems all the Sheffield makers jumped on the bandwagon as 'Oriental' things were in fashion.
Here; http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ese-razor.html
They were obviously as good with Chinese characters and the Chinese were with English!

I rest my case.
