"Magnetic steel" -- a gimmick?
I see several vintage razors advertised as being "magnetic steel"...
Are they talking about magnetized?
If so, was this just a sales gimmick, or does it serve some useful purpose?Realization of the vastness of ones own ignorance is the first step on the path to true wisdom.

A time when you could claim anything you want without worrying about the Govt. or being sued.
Buyer beware was key then.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I have a Carbo Magnetic razor from the early 1900 period. The magnetic bit was likely a marketing thing. I don't see how a magnet would do any good. My blade, by the way, still has some magnetism remaining.

Yes a sales gimmick, they use to say magnets had some medical advantage. Same thing is said today but with copper and joint health. They will say anything to separate our money from us. lol.

You are all making me laugh so much my sides hurt!
Seriously though, I was thinking about it and I wonder if the magnetic gimmick was done to compete with stainless steel razors? The magnetics came out around the same time as the first SS, yes or no?
