7 in weekly rotation, 3 in travel set and 14 for sale. Been using a straight over 20 years and have lost count.
Way to many to rationalize a reason for having that number.
Bob
14 razors, I've been doing it for 3 years, never really got into collecting them, the more customs I had made the more I got rid of the razors I bought, don't really need 14, I mostly use 4 of them all the time and the others I bring out once in a while. Tc
I am at 55, down from almost 80 a year or so ago...
I have been collecting for 4 years and I have about 30 Filarmonicas, every model they made. They are my favourite razor...
I suppose I should answer my own questions:
How many SRs do you own? Ten...hope to add more soon.
How long have you been collecting? About a month...yes, I know...don't say it...
Do you have a particular favourite among your collection? Not yet, but I'm working on it...
Over a hundred. I'm not proud, I'm a addict.
How many SRs do you own? 5; a Heljestrand Mk No.31, my Great Great Grandfather's Wade & Butcher, a Michael Hunter & Son Sheffield Wedge (the 3rd razor I ever bought back in 2007), a Thiers Issard 6/8 "Extra Wide" Eagle, and a 6/8 round Heinrich Klein Solingen.
How long have you been collecting? Bought my first straight razor in the early autumn of 2007, a 5/8 Wade & Butcher w/ barber notch. I bought and sold in excess of 800 straights in the following years leading up to 2016.
Do you have a particular favourite among your collection? Obviously, my family heirloom W&B is dearest, followed by the Michael Hunter which I have bought, sold, re-bought, traded, and re-traded for over the course of 9 years. My daily shaver for the past 4 to 5 years have been a smattering of Heljestrand MK N0.31's of which I have owned close to a dozen. I enjoy shaving with them the most.
***What is next on the horizon to acquire? (added this category myself) An exceptional minty set of 2, 3, 4, or 7 but I am in no hurry.
Around 60 or 70. About 40 of those are shave worthy.
To be honest, I do not have a count. Most come and go. There are a few that I consider myself to be the long term custodian of. I really like the Henckels brand. I also really like my pre 1850's bunch. I have had some really big names and other little known. It is a journey for me.
About 30, 6, I shave with, some I give away to further SR use.

I wrote this a couple weeks ago, but it answers your questions. Complete with pictures.
I don't recall actually. I haven't counted lately. Maybe 80 or 90 all shave ready. I've been doing this around 15 years or so. I used to have more but I thinned them out a bit.
Do not have a hard count but around 80 razors. I have been doing this for 2 1/2 years. Most come and go but I have my collection I will never sell. I am into Sheffield razors the earlier the better. Can't say I have a favorite I go back and forth. I love them all.
I'm thinking high 80's?
All shave ready.
I have a problem with Dubl Ducks. :rofl2:
I'd say close to 100 - all shave ready and in from good to excellent condition.
Clearly, way too many, but the slightly more than half of them are W&B's, with a healthy helping of other brands, and I truly enjoy just opening my razor chest, randomly opening a drawer, and whatever razor my hand touches I usually shave with, unless of course I decide I want to use another...
Three. That's pretty alarming when you consider that I started less than 2 weeks ago!
Dovo Best Quality 5/8" (my first in a razor/strop set)
Gold Dollar (a cheapie I got to make all of my mistakes on as I learn how to hone)
Vintage ROBERT KLAAS SOLINGEN 5/8" (just got it in the mail today.)
I have no idea.
Somewhere in the 'scads' range, I would say.
I guess I would have to say zero. I am the caretaker for thirty five razors. Hoping they will find their way into some wet shavers hands in the future.
Tom, that may be slightly understated.
Uh-oh. I've been successfully kidding myself that it's not too many, that it's probably not that bad yet. I guess I stopped counting at around 30 or 40 and it's more than double that now. It just kind of snowballed, ya know? I have so many projects I want to do, so many plans..... picture a giant snowball made of straight razors and that's about how many.
Don't go there........ It never ends! :roflmao

3 .
Three!......................

Yep 3, it's the magic number ☺
Why count? I figure if you count, you are OCD! :roflmao
I think I have somewhere around thirty boxes. Some only have about twenty razors and several have well over a hundred. Then there's a few hundred in the basement that went through the tumbler and maybe another fifty in the garage plus other miscellaneous ones around the house.
So...
I have more than 3.
How many SRs do you own? 9
How long have you been collecting? A couple months
Do you have a particular favourite among your collection? A Maher & Grosh "Rattler" - nothing fancy but made in the town where I grew up - Toledo.
I have 49; been at it for just over a year. Not sure if I have a favorite though I have a Filarmonica Doble Temple 8/8 that always gives me grins when I
use it.
3 kilos of Wapis?
I am so out of the big-leagues! I have not the first Wapi! ;)
6 months in. 30 shave ready straights, and about 15 in line for a resto.
I have it under control.
I love these threads that make me feel better and worse about myself at the same time!
I would say around 60, about a dozen shave ready, and a lot waiting to be restored. My favorite is probably in the next purchase... :)
Frankly, I'd bet that if you ever dug into that vast collection of pristine razors you have, I wouldn't be surprised if a few Dubl Duck Reapers, a few W&B Ottoman's, and dozen's of other incredibly rare razors would turn up...:rofl2:
Ohh...a maybe a few of the them would be shinier than a diamond in a goats azzzz...:o
Well that George Butler Turkish Razor that was in the Wall of Shame thread arrived yesterday, an I'm pretty sure it was designed that way, pretty uniform shape to it, it's not hone wear, but am wondering if it was meant as a display type razor, or part of me is wondering if it's a neck only razor, for those with beards and only want to do that area...or I'm dreaming in colour again.

I had to go count...
There are 21 in the current rotation, 7 that will be in the rotation after they are honed, and 35 that are in various stages of restoration!
