Wonky spine.
What is this? At first glance I thought it was a bad attempt at spine work but it can't be. How could a razor even wind up with that kind of wear? I don't think it came like that from the factory.

Thanked: 13246They are called a "Scalloped Spine" and they are several different styles of them..
This is just one I found in my pics I have quite a few in there but this gives you an idea
I know I have pics on one with just the single scallop somewhere in my albums, if I can find it I will post it for you

I've heard it called a "tombstone" spine when there is one big scallop from the middle to the end of the blade. I don't know if that's right though. I like the dip above the maker's mark - you don't see that every day. Nice one!

That one is a single scalloped spine? I love the one in Glens picture. They didn't look symmetrical on the Marsh and Shepherd. Being as OCD as I am that would bother me. Lol. Thanks.

One of my Joseph Elliot razors with a single scallop. This is probably not going to help Hacker7's OCD either...

Yes.....RA makes one that is more dippity than flowing. Here is my 6/8 with a scalloped spine.

I have always liked scalloped spines. It was the single one I never saw before. After seeing a few I must say they are growing on me. Very different and not all that common. I might just have to get one.
