    Default Short Razor for Detailing

    Hi SRP Folks,

I recently bought my first SR. Needless to say im not falling down the deep dark rabbit hole of obsession, but I dont know that my next purchase exists.

I usually keep a well edged chin strap with a mustache. Its been difficult to create the right effect with my King of Whiskers though. When I get to the intersection between my beard/stache and my chin strap I find myself having a very difficult time negotiating the short strip of skin that needs to be shaved towards the lower end of my cheek before hitting the top of the chin strap.

Wondering if theres such a thing as a short SR that can be used in such areas for navigating the more confined areas. I think my existing SR runs something like 3" blade length. Im looking for something like 1" to 1.5". Ive heard talk of people who break razors and then end up grinding them down into detailers. Wondering if tracking one of these down is the way to go or if there is something specifically manufactured for this specific situation.

After some searching on SRP I cant seem to find much.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

Lots make 'shorties' from broken or worn razors. If you cannot find one, shoot me a PM and I will see if I can come up with something.

To state the obvious a DE razor fits the size requirements or do you mean something like a 3/8 trimmer.

If you need something short, go for an eastern small blade kamisori. If you need something narrow, go for a Heljestrand "Sculpta" or something like this.

The kamisori is exactly the kind of blade I'm looking for. Any others that might fit the mold?

Nothing better than a good shorty, for detailed work.

Is this something I would even want to entertain the idea of?

Someone offered me the razors below. Can anyone tell me the best choice in conjunction with my use case as originally stated above?

That would be so unforgiving I would think. I would look to a shorty made as such from the get go like the many that exist. I think Brian Brown Customs makes one as well as PRC makes a nice looking shorty.

Unfortunately both of those seem to be far far outside my price range. Was hoping to stay in the sub-$50 category.
