    I have this lost and lonely razor can somebody help me give him a name? the pic is not great but the makers mark looks like a church spire with a crown over it .it also has a 40 on the endName:  crown&cross2.jpg

    Can you post pictures of the full blade, not just the marks. It's really hard to see anything on the ones you posted. Use the macro setting on the camera if it has one

    MUCH better!! I've never seen that mark before but I think the crown mean Sheffield. Very cool looking razor

    IMHO this razor is a vintage french wedge, grounded later.

    I'd say it should be from the 1850 - 1870 years, perhaps from the Brittany region.

    After not finding the marks in my Gales & Martin, I figured it was most likely French & your dating seems appropriate Thaeris.

    Thanks guys for all the help Im sure wandering around in sr land I have seen that mark somewhere I just cant for the life of me rember where

    I'm right there with you. I've seen it before on a set of knives (not razors). I can even picture the knives in my mind, but where???
    The knives had French style cut work on the handles, so I'll agree that probably is a French maker mark.
