Thanked: 1short blade straight razor
i was looking at the portland razor co. online and saw they have a short straight razor with a 2 inch blade for $120. can you use these for shaving other than just the tight places on your face under the nose and so forth?would the balance be ok? i have read some good things about this company but nothing about a short razor.john

Thanked: 4PRC'S shorty is the sprite. I have had mine for a year. Very nice small razor. Well made, a nice grip and great shaver. Much nicer than the Hart shorty I have. Some folks really like this size. Easy razor for beginners. I also was on PRC site and they report their delivery time as 3-4 weeks. A year ago it took 12 weeks. Quality is excellent and I like the 1/4 hollow grind. Definately planning on ordering from the 8/8 line.

They are well made razors in general. I do not have any experience with this small model but do have two of the regular line of razors. I would say yes for fitting into spaces you do not need a 3" length blade. I wished they, PRC, would do a 3/8 wedge for doing tight spaces like around the ears and neck line.
Now they will do this but the first template of whoever orders will pay the setup fee for the rest of us!!!! LOL!
But yes, they are great razors. BTW- I see your location and that is beautiful area. I lived in Weaverville just north of Asheville for 13 years.German blade snob!

Thanked: 2591Short blades shave just fine, plenty of Japanese razors are in the 2" ballpark of length. I can't speak for the PRC razor since I have not tried it.

Thanked: 39I would go on E-Bay and look for a razor that has a chip at the end. You can usually find these for less than $20.00. I would then cut the end off using a cut off wheel on the Dremal. I found a nice Wm. Elliot & Co. this way (it costs $14.00 +$4.75 shipping) and cut it off, it then measured 2 1/4 inches. Even if you had to buy a Dremal and the wheels your looking at less than $60.00. I'm a cheapo, I rarely buy a razor that's more than $30.00. Ask me how much my 3rd. Bengall razor (IVGS) cost me.
