Looking for original name/brand if this razor
Hi folks
Here a new razor made by alisblades as example from an old razor. It's pretty but I'm looking for the original brand or kind of this razor. Any of you have reference?

Are you looking for the general style or is the razor in your picture a replica and you are looking for the original?
There are a lot of similar razors in this 1700s razor club thread.

I think I have not seen a reproduction such as this? Pretty neat!
It might represent a real oldie which had been reground sometime through the years and has that obvious stabilizer down to the edge.
(NOT a stabilizer, so much as a starting point for the 'regrind')
What about that?
Stabilizers into the edge have always been a nightmare, unless removed from the edge, for me.
I suppose some tape and careful honing? Bound to frown?Last edited by sharptonn; 08-03-2016 at 03:21 AM.

Very cool though!
Maybe needs a little refining...? The stabilizer as stated above.. but I am far from an expert.
It's kindof like if the American car manufacturers began producing new muscle cars but didn't include modern refinements. The looks of some old cars are great, the raw power, the novelty factor is there, but the smooth luxury experience that even cheap cars offer these days?
But again, I'm no expert and maybe that's part of the novelty value..“You must unlearn what you have learned.”

Na, I think it is authentic.
As we look at the oldies with this configuration, the hone begins under the regrind line and swoops standard for a smiling edge, it seems. You can see the bevel is already doing a fine frown at the beginning of this operation.
Lots of the oldies have this feature. The way it was, I think. A faithful reproduction, in a way.
Better steel as well?

Would not an email to Alisblades give you the answer? I'm sure they would be glad to tell you from what brand & model your razor is a copy of.

Yep, going back and looking at old old blades, the technological lessons learned and implemented did not happen over night.
SO the question i have is how original you guys would want a reproduction?
Implement a couple new designs like shoulderless and modified stabilizers? Too much and then you have a more modern razor...
... oh my friends it is a slippery slope!!!
Start out designing a reproduction of a razor from the late 1700s- early 1800s and end up with a "hands-free" mach-50 razor with built in shave cream and aftershave applicator, and little invisible Escher nano-hones working day and night to give YOU and only you the best shave that salvaged alien technology can offer. Available at your local Wal-Mart-Universal, "where life begins".
