Default help to "cure" or slow down RAD.

I have thought of something that might slow down RAD, Maybe even cure it if you are strong enough. From now on I am going to get the box FIRST which MUST be in near perfect condition, and THEN try and find the razor that goes with it. Also the razor must be in near perfect condition with very little hone wear. It might just work. I have found a couple of near perfect boxes but no razor, Oh, yea I will let you buy the box first and then wait for a razor to show up. Also the box should not cost you more than $12.00 including shipping. Just thinking out loud. I have been on the look out for a home for a few of my razors here lately. It might just help. Who wants a whole bunch of "Naked" razors in their possession?. I don't. So the box hunt will start for some of my razors. I need a couple of Landers Frary & Clark boxes and a Bengall box. Also a few W.H. Morley & Sons Boxes would be nice. Once again Just a Thought.

That should occupy you for a little while. Good luck with the search.

I have found that RAD is easy to beat by setting rules just like you have. My personnel one is I don't take any razor that I want unless absolutely in new condition, I really don't have a holy grab so it is hit and miss when I see a razor that I like, plus I have so many true custom razors I don't really find much out there that I don't already gave, so RAD doesn't really effect me anymore, I have 14 razors and 14 is all I ever have now. For me it's all about the deal. If I see a good deal I buy it. [emoji3]

I've been shaving with straight razors for 8 years and stopped buying after 50+ razors, RAD has never been a problem as I didn't catch it..........

BTW, there is no cure for RAD, the only known treatment is......yep! buy more razors!

Early in my hunt for vintage SRs I was less discerning in my choices. Now I only buy razors that have minimal wear and those that can be sharpened...and I only buy razors I am going to shave with. I agree -- buy less and go for quality purchases.

As for how to cure RAD...only buy quality.

Focus on collecting certain models in NOS condition, that would moderate the addiction pretty well.

I have sorta done this I have three to 4 Razor Manufactures that I will buy, but they must be very good condition. I have one razor type that E-Bay has a half dozen or so of for sale and by comparing them to each other its easy to see how bad some are to the good ones (which are too expensive for me). I have one I am looking REAL hard at that has about 8 hours less with NO bidders He might get one in a couple of hours but I am trying to be strong, the thing is it will be a single.

Almost two months into this journey and this has been my approach from day one. I learned from DE shaving, quality over quantity is always a winner.

    Well said!

I set a price of $30.00 for any shaving Equip I buy. Only went over that a few times to like $35.00. It's funny though that the best razors I have I paid $15.00 or less for. The only thing I might break my rule is for a 8/8" or larger near wedge. I am going to get a 16K hone for my birthday but "I" am not paying for it but I guess in reality I am paying for it as Barb & I have a joint account.
