Thanked: 1need help with my new sr
Hey guys hope you doing well today , I don't know if I'm going to get an answer here but I have recently bought a nice safety razor, and of course some shaving soap. The shaving soap in question is Taylor of Old Bondluxury shaving soap, and I just can't seem to get a consistent lather with the soap. Is it because I'm lathering my brush wrong? (It's my first time having done this), or is it just the soap?

Thanked: 0Welcome to SRP, when I first started using soaps I too found it a little difficult to start with however the following link may help. Plenty more like this on YouTube.

Other will chime in I'm sure, but soak your brush in hot water until soft and taken water in board then whip around your soap bowl (loading the brush) until soap is noticable on the brush then in your lather bowl whip it around adding water on the bush a little at a time until you get a nice lather.
Good luck keep at it .

Thanked: 0Double what MrT1904 said. The key is to soak the brush for a few minutes before attempting any lather building. Don't just hold the brush under a running tap, soak it in a scuttle, mug, or bowl. You will be surprised at the difference in volume/consistency/quality of lather that you will be able to produce by having the bristles really wet. Good luck!

Thanked: 3228Getting a good lather built is a common problem when you start into this traditional wet shaving hobby. Here is a vid that helped me quite a bit even though I had been at it many years. There are a few different ways to get a good lather too.
