Thanked: 0My first restoration project
Hey guys my computer took a dive on me so I finally figured out how to upload pictures from my iPhone. This is my current project before I took it apart. One of the scales was broken and had been wired back together. It's a Wade and Butcher looks like a 6/8 full wedge. It's a huge piece of steel. I'm currently getting a new set of scales made for it then I'll have to have it honed. If anyone has any recommendations for honing services I'd greatly appreciate it. Also I have a few razors that need professional help, any suggestions would also be helpful. Thanks

Guess it all depends on what you need done, to the other blades.
Pics would be nice.
There's lots of guys here that hone, so its a matter of your choice. Glen (GS SIXGUNS ) is one that comes to mind. Have heard nothing but good news for him, even though I hone and restore my own.Mike

This is the classifieds section called member services. This is where members that are honing and restoring for others hang out their shingles.
That looks like a nice blade for a first project. A lot of steel and looks to be in pretty decent shape. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

That's a nice razor and a good choice for a restoration project. Good luck, add some pictures along the way.

Thanked: 101I have a bunch of razors but my favorite is a 6/8" pre 1881 Wade & Butcher 1/2 hollow. It gives the smoothest shaves of all my razors.

Have you ever considered honing it yourself?

Thanked: 0I have never attempted to hone anything before. I've always been a little nervous about honing a blade because I figure you can ruin a blade real quick if you don't know what you're doing. I wouldn't mind learning though.
