Thread: Wet razor in mail

So how bad do you think a razor will be after being flooded due to hurricane. My local post office where my razor is setting at is under a few feet of water and pobably not going to deliver anything out of there until mid week? So thats 5-6 days soaking in water (filthy water)

i'm guessing you will find a bit of rust.

Hopefully you had insurance on it. It probably won't get delivered, more like thrown out and swept under the rug. Just like all are other government agencies.

First, I think a lot depends on how the razor is packed. Some people almost seal them up in bubble wrap and some wrap loosely in paper or nothing at all.
Second, what are the scales made of? Pourous material such as horn, bone or wood is going to be more liable to sustain water damage than plastic or anything else man-made.
Third, any rust that happens in a few days should be easy to deal with.
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

I buy a lot on eBay and many are in ziplock bags. Seriously though, it's probably fine and dry. No need to automatically assume the worst. You will most likely just get it a little bit late. Think positive!

I wouldn't get your hopes up 'miester. If the address label is cactus they'll probably just chuck it in a skip. NB: these are Australian slang expressions but I'm sure you'll get the drift. My commiserations if it doesn't work out.

What razor and from where did you purchase it? The oil on a new razor may protect it a bit. If it comes rusty you could claim the insurance or clean it. You'll be fine either way.

It's a crap shoot and really depends where it was stored at the PO. It it's stored high and dry you shouldn't have anything to worry about. However if it was stored in one of their bins or low against the floor and it's dunked under water for God knows how long be prepared to receive a rusted razor unless the seller vacuum wrapped it with a Foodsaver. Either way it's a 50/50 chance it'll arrive in good or bad condition.

Think the best, Prepare for the worst.
Salt water soak is worse possible case scenario.
With these folks any thing is plausible. More likely possible. Pitting cant get that deep in 30days.
