Thread: Thomas Turner anybody?

A search, albeit hurried in its undertaking, turns up very few Thomas Turners at SRP; I'm looking at an 'Everlasting' circa late 1900's, anybody here a fan of this English maker?

Thomas Turner's trademark was 'Everlasting'. He first appeared in the Sheffield directory in 1854 on Milton St. By 1859 he was at Thomas St. His business was last listed in 1871. Turner died on 12 March 1874 at age 55. Stacey Bros. acquired the trade mark 'Everlasting'. They remained in business until the early 1940's so you may find the trade mark under the name Stacey Bros. & Co. but not under Thomas Turner. The 'Everlasting' trade mark was next acquired by A.H. Bisby & Co. who remained listed until 1968 so maybe you can find the trademark under their name but again not under Thomas Turner during the time period you reference.
Maybe late 1900's is a typo on your part?

There were a few Thomas Turner Everlasting razors on Oboy when I recently looked. I do have at least one http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...as-turner.html and it shaves as well any razor I have.

Not the same company that owned the 'Everlasting' trademark.

Confusing at times. Two manufactures, same town same name. Timing a little different. Sorry for confusing the issue.

There were several makers in Sheffield with the name Turner. Easy to mix things up.

Yep 1900's was definitely a typo! The one I'm looking at has Thomas Turner 'Everlasting' on the tang, but is a slightly different style to that in your images. This one has defined shoulders and a square nose without the notch.

A picture would be nice?

I'm still bartering over it, would be bad form to post somebody else's possession ��
