    Default J.A.Henckels Zwillingswerk 72

    Hi guys ,
Recently I've been looking for a Solingen blade. My brother owns a few and after honing up his Flowing blade I was impressed with the feel of the edge.

I've been looking at J.A.Henckels 72 1/2 blades , realising the ones with the stamped number on the tail goes for less than the tang stamped ones.

I came across this blade for next to nothing so I grabbed it..

I thought is was a 72 1/2 but in fact its a 72, no half?

What's that number in reference to, the blade size?

I'd like your thoughts on this model please, cheers.. Joseph

That blade looks like it has potential. The last post in this thread might have the answer you are looking for http://straightrazorpalace.com/begin...they-mean.html .

I stand before you , naked and shamed (ok not naked)
I confess I want German steel and Spanish too .

They wont match up to Sheffield steel IMO but variety is the spice of life..

72 is a square point, 72 1/2 is a round point. A NOS 72 is 13/16 measured from the top of the spine to the edge.
