Copper black dots
Bought a vintage Gillette New long comb with a copper cap. After one use I see a few black spots that formed. What's causing this and anything to do to prevent this? I assume some brasso will remove this but I don't want to do every time I use it.

The original plating is gone, and copper is pretty reactive. A replate of either the top cap or the whole razor will solve the problem. The original was a gold wash, but it was not a durable finish. Consider nickel or rhodium as better options for durability.

Thanked: 3225IIRC the copper is also a plating on top of brass so the gold wash will adhere better.

yes I agree ,, its down past the top plating to the copper layer,, you need to have it replated cant stop that spotting in its present condition. I suggest razorplate.com, hs the best Tc
