Thanks man... a few month later it is still my go to Razor. Did you get the 7/8 or 8/8?

Neither actually. I have a shortened Hydra 6/8 coming. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks. I want to get one big boy soon, I,just haven't decided on the maker yet.

Thanks for the review - 8/8 is unchartered territory for me
I am not ashamed to admit my bias in favour of PRC razors - I have quite a few and enjoy the heft and grind of these as a consistent shave more than anything else i have.
I have the 7/8 phoenix and its big enough for me - the others are all 6/8's but I do like the hydra (spanish) and kraken (french points) the most.
My sweetspot with them is light refreshing every 2 or 3 shaves with only a few strokes on chromox - never fails me.
    Enjoy

I should try the chromox as I feel like - 3 month in - the Gryphon is not as fierce as it used to. Do you have the chromox on leather or linen

Love the look of this blade, but I HATE those scales!! I'd have to rescale mine if I got one.

    Nice review!

I am actually partial to the scales, but I still cannot get over the way the it is pinned. I guess I will need to see it in person, but it just offends my sense of symmetry or something.

Not necessarily looking for a project right now, but I have never seen a W&B offered for less than the price of a new basic Dovo for example, even if it needs work. I struggle to believe they are more worthy than other makers of the period.

Second that comment, my Hydra with blued steel and walnut scales is just a pleasure to use, and nearly six months later still delivers beautiful shaves.
