    Default Damascus Co. Wargo help

I just bought the Wargo from the Damascus Co., a damascus steel razor as my very first razor. I bought it before I found this very helpful website and was wondering if anyone has used or has opinions on this razor especially as a first time razor. Ill provide a link at the bottom. I'm also looking for guidance on a suggested strop for damascus steel or if any strop will work. Thanks for any input.

I haven't used one, but given the country of origin and the extremely low price (for a handmade, honed damascus razor), I wouldn't expect to much from it. It most likely isn't shave ready as advertised, I would be surprised if it was actually 65HRC and I would bet that it may not actually be able to be honed to shave ready.

I would never purchase one, as for that money you could get a known razor of good-great quality that is actually honed to shave ready.

Suggestion for a first timer? I can cancel the order.

If I could cancel, I would!

The classified here usually have much more suitable razors, as do some of the SRP vendors, and I can think of several ebay vendors that have much more, for much less.

Plenty of bargain razors show up here in the Buy/Sell/Trade section if you have patience. For strops, I recommend you shop at Straight Razor Designs (site sponsor that provides an excellent array of strops from beginner to premium models).
