Thanked: 4827The Johnson family from Sheffield
I have managed to pick up and do some repairs on some Sheffield razors made by Johnson. The older two could very well be the same Johnson, the other one is another Johnson but I can't figure out who is who with these Sheffield Johnsons. All the same I thought everyone would like to see some pictures.

Is that bottom one a stylized "G"? I haven't seen a Johnson with that mark (doesn't mean a whole lot!) A different mark for George Johnson? Or is it a "J"? One of the several James or John Johnsons hahaha, I'm curious to see if anyone knows the mark and who it belonged to. Awesome razors btw

Thanked: 4827I take it to be a stylized G, perhaps someone will recognize it. It looks good and shaves well. I'm not good at the history part of this. I figure I am doing well if I can guess the quarter in the right century.

A pile of Johnsons, to be certain!
Interesting what can be dredged-up?
Looks like the sort of 'G' which might appear on date marks of silver?
Might date it?

Thanked: 4827I have no idea what that means or how that works.
Are you saying that that symbol may simply be a date code and the insignia is not an initial? It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I dunno. It just reminds of some fancy date/maker/area codes....Here!

Thanked: 4827That is pretty cool. I have never seen that before. That funny G makes it way older than that razor is likely to be.
