Thanked: 5Is anyone familiar with Monde or PermaEdge razors?
I saw one of each at a local flea market last weekend and they both appeared in fine shape. I am considering hunting the guy down this weekend to see if he still has them. He said he had been sitting on them a while. I just hadn't heard anything about either and wondered if the blades were worth the chance?

Do you have pictures?

Thanked: 5I didn't take pictures at the flea market, but the Monde looked like this one:
This is the only picture I have been able to find of one. I haven't been able to find anything about the PermaEdge.

PermaEdge is a brand made for Rexall Drugstores. I don't know who made the straights. I have an open comb DE that was made for them and I don't know who made that either. The DE is a decent shaver. Not sure about the straights.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 4826There were a ton of razors made that were labeled for a company and made by unknown makers, that were top quality. There is no guarantee that any of them other than the known made for others will do well, but the list of unknown maker rebranded razors is Shapliegh Hardware, Hess, DublDuck, C-Mon, SRD, and that is just what comes up off the top of my head. I am sure there are others. There is a chance of a dud razor even from known makers, but the chances are slim. The the biggest thing with buying vintage razors is condition. If there are currently issues then step away. If the blade is clean and looks good, then you could take rake a chance on finding a true gem.
